Arapgir is a district of the province of Malatya, but in late-Ottoman period, it was the center of a township within the district of Mamuretülaziz (who is today Elazığ). 1/3 of the total population of that time was Armenian.
Mayda Saris graduated from Sainte Pulcherie and Lyce Notre Dame de Sion and graduated in 1974. While in Faculty of French Philology in İstanbul University, she also attended Modern Art Lectures in Mimar Sinan University. Separate from that she took fashion design lectures. She worked in the areas of plastic arts, art history, antiquariat and philodophy between the years 1990-1995. For the following ten years, she was one of the editors in Agos Daily newspaper. In 2011, she established Paros as known as multicultural social magazine.
