This book, published on the occasion of the restoration and re-opening to worship of the Church of Surp Giragos in Diyarbakir, is an enlarged version of the chapter on the vilayet of Diyarbakir in Armenians in Turkey 100 years Ago, with the Postcards from the Collection of Orlando Carlo Calumeno first published in 2005.
He is the founder, publishing director and curator of Gallery Birzamanlar. He was born in 1957 in Maraş. He worked as a reporter and editor in various daily newspapers, weekly and monthly magazines. He served as the editor-in-chief of Toplumsal Tarih (Social History) monthly magazine published by the History Foundation.
Since the early 1990s, he concentrated on the history and current problems of non-Muslim communities, as an activist, publisher and researcher.
He has published numerous books in this field. He made and joined into presentations, as well as prepared exhibitions in Turkey, Germany, France, Switzerland, USA, UK, Syria, Armenia, Austria, the Netherlands.
He is one of the rare Turkish history researchers who works on the social history of the Armenians by using sources from Turkish (Ottoman), Armenian and Western languages together.
