Cultural mosaic of our past

Our Story

Founded in 2004, Birzamanlar Yayıncılık is a publishing house that publishes on specific topics, which emphasizes the multicultural identity of Turkey from that day to the present, reveals our coexistence culture, and reinforces the visual materials displayed in the books published by this mission.

“Armenians in Turkey 100 Years Ago with Postcards from the Orlando Carlo Calumeno Collection” met with its readers in the first days of 2005 as the publishing house's first book. This book, prepared by Osman Köker, the founder of the publishing house, presented the Armenian presence in Turkey at the beginning of the 20th century, as witnessed by approximately 700 postcards. In parallel with this book, an exhibition called "Sireli Yeğpayrıs" (My Dear Brother) was opened on the same days. The intense interest that the book and the exhibition received enabled the exhibition to be shown abroad and the English and German translations of the book to be published in a short time (new editions and the 2nd volume in the following years).

The visual materials used in the vast majority of our publications belong to the Orlando Carlo Calumeno collection. He has one of the few collections belonging to the Ottoman period and Republican period. Thanks to the archive of Orlando Carlo Calumeno, the books we publish are separated from their likeness and are valued with these features.

Birzamanlar Publishing continues to present the cultural richness of Turkey's past with greater strength after opening its own exhibition and event venue, Galeri Birzamanlar, at the end of 2019.
